At St. Bede's, we like to focus our formation with an annual theme.
Our theme for the 2024-2025 academic year is "Belonging."
Read on for information about our current and upcoming formation opportunities.
We invite you to join us as we study The Path, edited by Forward Movement. Taking its cue from the world of hiking, The Path is a wonderful resource for those who want to explore—or re-explore—the overarching story of the Bible. The selected passages offer a perfect overview of the Bible’s contents, without becoming overwhelming. The notes provide helpful information, without taking away from the story. You may purchase the book through Forward Movement, Amazon, or another favorite bookseller. Scholarship money is available if the cost of the book is prohibitive. Please contact us for more information.
We hope you will join us as we familiarize ourselves with the rich and life-changing message of the Bible.
The Path: Family Storybook
recounts the major stories of the Bible, from creation to revelation, in a way that engages children (and those who love them!). Children will come together with the adults (who are simultaneously studying the stories from The Path) for a time of discussion.
Sundays, February 2–April 6 from Noon to 1:15pm
For youth and adults, ages 12+
This class is for anyone: New and long-time members, those interested in baptism, or those just wanting to know more about the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Christian tradition. Please contact Vicar Marlene with questions and interest.
Wednesdays, March 19–April 9, 2025
Dinner at 6:00pm | Class at 6:30pm
For our Lenten Soup Supper focus this year we will be using Lift up Your Voice: Singing through Lent and Easter. “All of creation,” wrote the twelfth-century German abbess and composer, St. Hildegard of Bingen, “is a song of praise to God,” a swirling symphony all around us. Augustine of Hippo once said, “To sing is to pray twice.”
This Lenten season, why not take the Christian musical treasury as your guide, this sacred art, thousands of years old, in which big ideas and beautiful melodies come together? In this devotional, each week, biblical texts and beloved songs will inspire our Lenten practices. As the days lengthen, the birds will sing – and so will we, strengthening our spirits, praying twice, and joining in with creation’s symphony of sorrow and joy, anguish and comfort, death and new life.
As we approach the class, look for sign-ups in the narthex (entryway) to help and bring food.
