Clergy & Staff

The Rev'd Marlene Mutchler

Vicar

Vicar Marlene joined St. Bede's as our vicar in February of 2018. Prior to her arrival, she served as part of the clergy team at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Portland and as an Episcopal chaplain at Portland State University. She earned her Masters of Divinity from Portland Seminary after studying both there and at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific. She was ordained as a priest at Trinity in 2016.

She loves to tell stories, sew, sail, garden, and help people discover the divine image within. She and her husband Wade have three adult children. She is honored to serve and learn together with the people of St. Bede's.

The Rev'd Jane Besse

Assisting Priest

Reverend Jane spent over 30 years as a special education teacher in MN. After retirement, she was ordained in 2013 as part of a Total Ministry Team at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Detroit Lakes, MN. In 2015 she and her husband Bruce decided to move to Oregon to be closer to family (especially 2 grandchildren!). She has been delighted to be able to assist at St. Bede’s since then.

Jane and her husband Bruce have one son. When she is not helping with child care or going to sports and music activities, Jane enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, quilting, water aerobics and walking.

The Rev'd Dr. Kenneth J. Dorsch

Assisting Priest

Dr. Jeannine Jordan

Minster of Music & Organist

Jeannine has served in church music ministry since she was a teenager in Colby, Kansas. Through her music she has ministered to congregations in the Midwest and in Oregon and has been the Minister of Music at St. Bede’s since 2011. Besides local church music work, this ministry has taken her around the world conducting organ and worship workshops in the US and places as far-flung as Harrare, Zimbabwe, American Samoa, and Sydney, Australia. Being a lover of hymnody, one of her greatest pleasures as a church musician is leading robust energetic hymn-singing.

Dr. Jordan is a champion of the organ and its music. Her company, Pro-Motion Music, founded in 1980, is devoted to promoting the organ through her innovative concerts, teaching, recordings, and publications.

Jeannine maintains a large organ studio and is dedicated to fostering excellence and providing a future for the organ in church music one organ student at a time. Thanks to Zoom, she now teaches further afield as well as close to home, with St. Bede’s own Xoe Chapman a student.

Her concert career has taken her throughout the United States and Europe. She performed as an organ soloist with the National Orchestra of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo and Harrare, and has performed in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, American Samoa, and Colombo, Sri Lanka at the residence of the American Ambassador.

Jeannine and her husband, David, a media artist, are the creators and performers of three innovative live organ and multi-media concerts: Around the World in 80 Minutes, From Sea to Shining Sea, and Bach and Sons. These concerts have been presented nationwide to enthusiastic audiences. Bach and Sons was also performed with Jeannine’s German narration in Austria and at the historic Bach wedding church in Dornheim, Germany.

Jeannine and David make their home on the spectacular Oregon coast where they enjoy long beach walks, gorgeous sunsets and hiking coastal trails. They are also passionate about photography, travel, and meeting musicians worldwide.

Kari

Office Administrator

Kari moved to Forest Grove from Gresham, Oregon and joined the St. Bede's staff in January of 2020. Thankful for meaningful church work, she offers her many skills of planning, organizing, preparing our communications, and connecting with St. Bede's parishioners and the wider community. Please feel free to contact her with administrative, scheduling, communications, and general inquiries. If she does not have an answer, she can direct you to someone who does!

Kari is drawn to Anglican theology, liturgy, and spirituality. Once she took a quiz to help her discover how she best encounters God, and her results were a three-way tie between learning, tradition, and asceticism, if that tells you anything. She is also a bird-lover.
